I had seen this book mentioned several times on Bookish Twitter and as I was collecting titles for this category at the time--it seemed a perfect fit. My mistake was thinking it would be about a girl named Cassandra going to a wedding--when in fact there barely is a wedding. Instead of a light hearted wedding themed book it is more of a deep soul searching read with more heavy themes. It was reading time well spent-- if a little darker than I had hoped.
It is about twin sisters who up until about a year ago had been inseparatable since birth, they had bought an apartment together and a piano--and then all of the sudden Cassandra's sister, Judith, moves from California to New York where she meets her groom-to-be--they plan to be married on the family ranch in California. Cassandra is distraught--she feels abandonded and betrayed. She goes to the ranch in hopes of convincing Judith to change her mind and get things back to normal. The second half of the book is told from the perspective of Judith, the twin who wants a life of her own--separate from Cassandra. A look under the covers about what being an identical twin can really mean--especially when for most of their lifes they have considered themselves to be two halves of the same whole.
