During International Women's Month in 2024 I decided to devote my reading time to women writing about women--sometimes women writing their memoirs--as is the case with this book. The author was involuntarily commited to McLean Hospital at the age of 18 and spent the next two years in its psychiatric ward in the late '60's. These are her memories of that period in her life, worth the read, if a little horrifying. Certainly didn't pay to be a woman with a dissenting opinion back in the sixties.
