Indepencence Day's Search by A. E. Howe

Larry Macklin Mystery #20

As per usual this series does not disappoint although the ending to this one is a little over the top...

It starts as a hit reality TV show begins filming in Adam's County, soon after they start, one the main stars goes missing...then a body part shows up in the lake...then a whole dead body in their rented house.... Larry has his hands full with this one.

Memorial Day's Escape by A. E. Howe

Larry Macklin Mystery #19

A stellar entry into this series and as I am nearing the end of what Mr. Howe has written thus far...I do hope he continues this series...although I do have a back up plan. He has also previously written a stand alone novel and currently has the beginnings of two other series in the works. Very prolific writer and well worth the reading time.

Larry has recently been promoted to sergeant and is learning the ups and downs of managing other people...but of course while he is trying to figure that out...some prisoners ecape during a prison transport accident...leaving one guard dead and the other seriously injured. Even worse...one of the missing is Neil Manning, the man responsible for attacking and almost killing the Sherriff (Larry's Dad).

I'm proud of Larry. He is becoming a fine detective and really has to put his thinking hat on to unravel this one. Along the way, Larry even manages to improve his people managing skills.  His personal life continues to flourish and I always enjoy the reading about the various household pets and their frequent house guest, Mauser. No spoilers but l loved what he arranged for Pete at the end of the book.

Valentine's Warning by A. E. Howe

Larry Macklin Mystery #17

The book titles in this series started with months, moved on to seasons, and has now shifted to holidays. Thus far a series that has yet to disappoint--I always look forward to spending time with Larry and the gang. This outing finds Larry wondering about his decision to apply for the sergeant's position and is deep into a case involving a series of poison pen letters and then--one of the letters leads to a murder.

St. Patrick's Cross by A. E. Howe

Larry Macklin Mystery #18

A series that started with a month in the title of each book, moved on to the four seasons, and now on to Holiday's.

The mystery in this book is set in March and the title is in honor of the author's love of the Emerald Isle and the cover art features a pendant from his wife's personal collection.

This is a series that has yet to disappoint--it is always a pleasure spending time with Larry and the gang. Larry is in the doghouse with his father, the chief, and his promotion to sergeant is still in doubt...so lots of Mauser action. In this outing a childhood friend is discovered next to a dead body and quickly becomes the number one suspect. Larry can't believe it and sets out on a quest to prove his innocence.
